So...I think I may emotionally be done with white florals for awhile. Only, I have a comission to paint another white rose watercolor. So - with the signing of this painting - I have completed another for the January challenge- only a day late! RED must be next. I am craving glorious color. Intense reds. I have no idea at all what that will be - but it will be bold!
I am feeeling pretty good about this piece though. Thia painitng of white azaleas seemed to take forever. I thought it was completed a few days ago. Then I got looking at it with eyes all squinty. I had to go back in with rose dore and push back some petals – they needed more distinction between them. And then later I got looking at it and went back in to sharpen up some of the shadows. I am re-thinking my white floral series – this is tricky, tediuos work. I have one more I have to do… actually two more… then I will be looking for some more intense colors to work with!

Gosh Helen! This is outstanding!!! When there's a challenge you sure don't shy away! Simply beautiful!
I have problems to find words to express hove beautiful this is. Outstanding, stunning. They sing they dance.
I know it makes ME feel good ! I'm always impressed with how many colors white come in. At least TWICE as many as there are artists in the world.
No surprise this turned out so well !
Bring on the REDS !
It's a winner Helen, I like how you incorporated other colors into the whites. White flowers are not just white they are many colors.
Lovely!
SO beautiful Helen! This certainly looks like it was a challenge to paint, but you did so masterfully. I could look at it for hours.
Truly beautiful, Helen!
Thank you, seemed to take forever -now to find something vivid to paint :)
May be tedious but well worth waiting for to see the end result so stunning as this one is. To me, white flowers are more impressive. Wonderful job, Helen!!!
So beautiful Helen. I love all the colours in the white flowers and the deep background sets them off wonderfully.
