Studio Sign

Signing the wall
Mollie and Suzy's woven Sunflower
I was invited to do a workshop in Bullard TX, and it was such a neat place! I flew to Tyler, and Mollie picked me up, and we ran around taking pictures, then headed to Bullard to the retreat where the workshop was held. Greta Faulkinberry owned the retreat, and it was such a wonderful peaceful place to be. The name was House of Peace, which it was!
It was very much an honor to be there. I had 14 students, and they all did a great job. I was so proud of what everybody did.
When someone comes and teaches, they have them sign the wall, and so I got to sign theirs.
It was such fun! I was so afraid I would mess up, and then we couldn't fix it!
While I was there, I got to visit with a friend that I haven't seen in over 25 years! That was such fun, and she hasn't changed a bit! We also went to her restaurant in Frankston, and had catfish. yum! My Favorite.
Mollie wanted to know how to weave a painting together, so she drew off 2 sunflowers, on 1/8th sheet of watercolor paper. She painted one, and I painted one. We didn't' get enough contrast going but she got the idea. We videoed it if I can ever figure out how to put it on here, I will.
It is a good video, even if we are laughing through the whole thing!
try copy and pasting this(below) and see if it will work for you...let me know. I will continue to try to figure out how to get it on here. It just won't work.

When I left there, I went to my aunt's home in Avinger, TX. MORE Catfish!
I haven't seen her since 2000. We are the same age, and have always been close.
It was great getting to visit with them while I was there so close.

Never had fried cat fish but I bet I'd like it. Better get some whenI come !
you guys had wayyyy to much fun...I would have loved to have come too!!! I want to see that video but Suzy I think you have to upload it to youtube or something so it can be viewed...not sure. Then you give us the url and we can see it.
Well...Finally!!! I've been waiting for Suzy to get home so she could post some pictures...mine didn't turn out very good. We did have a grand time, and, Suzy is a wonderful teacher. We're all jazzed up now about producing collage. I'm working on my second one right now, but it's not so easy without my teacher telling me which way to go...ha. Next time we have her come here...and we will...maybe some of y'all can come too...you'd love it. For you Northern gals living in snow and cold...it was 65 today. (My Bad...as Mary would say).
Forgot to mention...there sure are some lovely pieces those ladies are holding! Looks like they had a great teacher!!! and...had a wonderful time to boot!
Y'all...I'm so bad...one of our biggest Artcolony fans (who has coffee with us every morning) is Rose Gesford...she's the third one from the left on the back row. I'll be in trouble after she sees this...ha.
Janet, there is nothing as good as catfish cooked the right way! if you ever get to go there..you need to go to catfish village ..he is famous for his fish. i didn't know but my son looked it up online! what a story!
Jane, i have tried and tried to upload that video and can't get it to work. did you try copy and pasting it to your search ?
wouldn't it be such fun if we did it again, w/ the art colony group! boy would that be wild! i would love to go back sometime.
Mollie, i am anxious to see what you do! be sure and post it! and thanks..not sure about the teacher part. i just share what i have learned! and am STILL learning every time i do one!
Well, you are obviously very good at teaching, Suzy! Your students did great. That sounds like so much fun. How is your eye doing? Any pain? I can not tell that anything was even done by the photos.
thanks Cindy! i hope i can share what little i know.
my eye is doing great thanks!
you can tell if you look real close. the dr. that did the surgery is an artist for sure!
Looking at the result from the students tels me they had a great teacher. I know that feeling, when students looks happy for what they have done.
Nice to see that all of them have different cups to. For how many hours was this workshop to finish this?
What a great group and good work they obviously had a good time seeing their smiling faces.
Suzy you look good.
Janet cat fish I love it double YUM!!
thanks Solveig..it was just 2 days. all day. thanks Verena! we will have to get Janet some 'real' good catfish. not the little curled up pieces that are like grease balls! hahah..the kind that is real flaky!
ok..i am waiting for a snerk from Janet on the flaky part!
The woven painting turned out great! I wish that the video would work for me because I would like to see how it is done. Those paintings sparkle. Thanks for more pictures Mollie. Yes, Suzy must be a good teacher because all of the collages look like they are keepers. I am surprised that there was some red scraps left for others to use. Hi Rose!!
What fun you all had and am sorry had to miss it. Rose and Greta and the rest look so happy to be with Suz and Mollie. You all did some great looking collaged art!
I would have been so nervous writing on that wall :o the woven painting is such a clever idea!
Elle,I am still trying to figure out how to upload the video. is too big.
i even re videoed it from the computer hoping it would be smaller, but i still dont have the camera set right i guess! ugh! i NEED Mary!
i bet she could fix it. we wished you could come too Kay..and Janet.
Ona,i WAS!! mine wasn't as dark as the others but i was nervous about it. maybe i can figure out the video on the weaving soon.
Gosh Suzy...I just don't know anything about video! I wish I did for I'd love to help! YOu are smart...I'm sure you will figure it out!
Oh so green with envy here. What a great experience! Love the sunflower and want to see the video! Hope you can get it posted.
Mary, i dont think it will work, the camera was set on the best setting, and i assume that is the prob. just too big! BUt I will keep trying to find something to compress it, or whatever it will take. i hope so too Diane!
