I had a phone call last week to say that I have been selected for Election as a signature member of the Canadian society of Painters in Watercolour CSPWC. I then had to take my paintings for verification by one of the selection committee which went really well. Now I’m just waiting for the paperwork and then I need to take the completed forms with the selected painting down into Toronto to be included in the National collection. Then I will be able to use CSPWC after my name. I feel very honoured.
When I was told which of my 6 paintings had been selected for the National collection it brought a tear to my eye because it is the one of my very good friend Denis who is sadly no longer with us. He had such a love for watercolour and his wish in my last phone conversation with him just before he died last year was that I use the painting of him as part of my application this year. He would be so thrilled to know this painting will now be part of the permanent national Canadian collection of watercolours. This is the painting I did of him doing one of the things he loved most.
Denis was so supportive of me when I was just starting out in watercolour and always believed in me. I can feel that he knows this exciting news and is smiling.

He certainly is smiling for sure, as we ALL are !
Tickled pink for you, ONA ! BIG congratulations from down here in MD !! That's a lot of letters to fit behind your name, but I'm sure you'll manage , snerk. WTG !!
This brought tears to my eyes to, and I am just honored to say I know you a little. This is fantastic and so deserved. I am sure he knows and are smiling.
Congratulation Ona.
Thanks Janet :) Yes, it is a lot of letters but good ones. Your comment made me think.... Hmmm If I used all the letters I could put after my name Ona Kingdon LTCL, ANEA, ALAM, B.Ed (Hons) PWS and soon CSPWC looks kind of impressive :) The first three by the way are drama/mime qualifications. The fourth my teaching degree and the last two you know:).....now thats a LOT of letters Snerk:)
Thanks Solveig <3

Well that speaks volumes then for this painting as your work is so amazing but this one must be a real stunner in person to beat the others out! I would love to see your work in person one day!
Congratulations, Ona...this is a very special and touching moment for you because of your Dennis painting, but I'm thinking that they could probably justify giving you initials by any of the 6 paintings they saw. I know you all are tired of hearing my southern drawl thingie saying this, but, "I just looove knowing Famous People"...ha.
