This art colony is a forum for professional artists to exchange thoughts, methods and ideas and hopefully to gain friendships as well. We hope to cover different mediums, but the concentration will be with watercolor, oils and colored pencils to begin with. We would like to also do some step by step demonstrations here as time permits.

Challenges
Christiane's post reminded me we had not made a decision on the next months...so let's put up some ideas of what we will do for March, April and May!!!
mad march hares.... anything unsual/ different to what you normally do. Try a different medium or style or approach you have always wanted to try but never been brave enough :)
Oh those are very good ideas Ona!!! I like them to be general so that it is open to interpretation etc so we get a variety of things...I usually cannot join in on these things but always love seeing the results!!! Thanks!!
i was thinking april showers bring may flowers, but everybody on here already paints flowers except me! or i don't do very many. how about something about our mother for may? like....something you have, something she said..etc. etc. Ona is one up on us there huh?
We could try painting a special subject: ie: cars, banana, apple see how people see them. Or maybe change our way of painting: ei.. Janie you paint realism you could try a la prima etc....
Suzy, i was thinking april showers bring may flowers too but i thought it was a typical old english saying so wasn't sure you would all know it:)
You could do the Merry Month of May.... basically anything beginning with the letter m .... manic monkeys.....magic marigolds....munching mothers... the possibilities are endless (grin)
Oh I forgot to say ... Jane and Christiane, I did all sorts of different styles when i was doing my 'Slice of life'book. I had such fun and learnt an awful lot too
April showers is a good idea if I can find the time. My red painting might be done by March...sigh. Almost finished with "Kaleido-doodle-do". Thank you Janet for the brainy idea.

"Munching Mothers"???!!! Ona! Are you spying on me?! (And my failing diet attempts?!)
I like Ona's idea for Mad March, doing something different than usual...am kinda tired of painting rabbits. Two this month is enough.

Ellie, don't worry about not being done by February....I haven't finished my "junk drawer" from last year's challenge yet :-}
I want to go for something abstract. Just a idea, and nothing i use to do.
I have a drawing for the red challenge, hope I can find time to finish it.
Here are more ideas:
Abstraction of a realistic subject
Combine reference photos
More ideas are brewing...
