Purple Iris Yupo Painting by Melinda Dalke

Impression of Irises 2 by Melinda Dalke
Size - 8 1/4 x 10 1/4 inches
Medium - Varnished Watercolor on Yupo Paper
I walked around my yard yesterday and the last of my Iris blooms was fading-the end of spring is here. I had fun with this Yupo painting-letting the watercolors blend and take control. I will be making a donation to Tabby's Place-cat shelter when it sells. I like the effect and am inspired to paint more~Happy Summer All! Melinda

Lovely, happy, summer piece. I never seem to find time to experiment with new things like Yupo. It creates some wonderful effects.

This looks beautiful Melinda. I have never worked on Yupo. Do you enjoy your painting process on this paper?
I love your background, the blues are so nice. And the Iris really pops out.

Thanks-so much. I enjoy painting on Yupo-the color mixing is amazing. When I paint on Yupo-it is me and the Yupo-I forget the rest of the world : )

This is really nice Melinda. I'm particularly enjoying the turquoise you've used so liberally. I'm beginnig to like that color more and more, especially when used with any of the purples. Really beautiful.
